Are you going to retire? Here is everything you need to know as an NTL member.

As an NTL member, you retain valuable benefits when you retire – the vast majority even receive free membership. All you need to do is notify NTL of your retirement date, and we will arrange the transition for you.

What happens to your NTL membership when you retire?

Whether you retire with an old-age pension, AFP (early retirement pension), or disability pension, you can continue as a pensioner member in NTL. The transition does not happen automatically – you must notify us so that your dues and insurance terms are adjusted correctly from the correct date.

For those wondering what a pension actually is and which rules apply, we have created a separate guide: What is a pension?

How to notify NTL

  1. Notify us by email (kont@ntl.no) or by phone (23 06 84 00).
  2. Provide your name, membership number, or date of birth.
  3. Provide the date you are retiring.

You can also notify us by logging in to "My Page" (Min side) at ntl.no. There, you get a full overview of your membership and insurance, and you can check the information we have registered about you.

Dues: Free NTL membership for most pensioners

Pensioners without pensionable income receive free membership when they retire. You only pay premiums for your insurance through LOfavør.

If you have a graded position or work in addition to your pension, you usually pay 1.1% of your pensionable income, in addition to the premium for your insurance in LOfavør. Please notify us of your end date.

If you are employed on pensioner terms according to the State Personnel Handbook section 10.12.2 and receive remuneration that is not pensionable, you will be exempt from dues in the same way as other pensioner members in NTL. In such cases, the rules for insurance premiums for pensioner members also apply.

LOfavør home insurance for pensioner members

Members who receive pensioner status from 1 January 2024 can keep their LOfavør home insurance on the same terms as active members.

When you turn 75, your home insurance is covered by LOfavør, provided you have paid for the insurance for 10 consecutive years as an active member and/or pensioner.

Travel insurance and legal insurance

If you had LOfavør Travel Insurance and/or Legal Insurance when you retired, you can keep these as long as you are a member of NTL.
