Adaptation agreements

An adaptation agreement is an agreement between the parties in a government agency regarding how the basic agreement in the state sector is to be practiced within the agency. The basic agreement leaves a number of questions up to the local parties, for example, where in the agency's organization co-determination meetings should be held.

Section 6 of the Basic Agreement states that the parties in each individual enterprise shall enter into an agreement on co-determination that is adapted to the needs of the enterprise and its employees. Since all enterprises are different, there is a need to agree on how the more general provisions of the Basic Agreement are to be practiced within the enterprise.

The adaptation agreement shall specify where and in what manner co-determination is to take place. In many cases, co-determination is delegated to the operational unit and work area levels where these exist for matters concerning these areas. Procedures for the flow of information should also be agreed upon.

The adaptation agreement also regulates the relationship between the statutory Working Environment Committee (AMU) and the agreement-based co-determination apparatus.
