NTL's organization is divided by sector, enterprise, and professional field, not geography. The local union committees are the core of NTL's professional activity, union representative work, and internal democracy.
NTL is divided into 49 associations, which organize employees within various enterprises or sectors. Associations that cover the entire country are called national associations, and these may have subordinate branches. Collectively, associations, national associations, and branches are referred to as local union committees.
As of today, NTL has 286 local union committees, including the branches. This number may vary somewhat over time.
NTL also has a number of regional committees that coordinate organizational work regionally. The regional committees are not considered local union committees.
The local union committees are responsible for much of the local activity in NTL, which includes:
In addition, they act as a link between the members and NTL centrally.
The local union committees work closely with local union representatives in the enterprises. The local union representatives (elected on the basis of the collective agreement) are responsible for co-determination and salary negotiations. Often, the same people are both local union representatives and active in the local union committee, but not always.
The structure is deliberately chosen to ensure effective cooperation: NTL organizes itself by sector and enterprise, not geography.
Each local union committee has a supreme decision-making body:
The meetings follow NTL's standard bylaws, which are part of the organization's main bylaws.
Local union committees with special challenges, such as long travel distances or weak finances, can apply for support from NTL's activity fund. The fund makes it possible to carry out activities such as recruitment, courses, and conferences.
NTL's local union committees and national associations cover a wide range of sectors. Here you will find a complete overview:
